DIY Slime

We're having a heatwave in Portland right now...which is every parents nightmare when it comes to keeping kids inside and entertained.  Today's heat-wave project is brought to you by...SLIME!  Making Slime is super simple and inexpensive.  It takes less than 10 minutes from start to finish and provides hours of entertainment!

Here's what you need:

  • 1/2 tsp of Borax powder
  • 1/4 cup of craft glue
  • 1/2 cup water, divided
  • 2 medium bowls
  • 2 spoons
  • food coloring

In one bowl, combine Borax with 1/4 cup of water. Mix for 1 minute, then set aside to dissolve. In the other bowl, combine glue with the remaining 1/4 cup of water. Stir until combined.  Next add your food coloring to your glue mixture and blend.  We made tangerine slime today; 2 drops of red, 8 drops of yellow.  Stir your Borax mixture one more time and slowly add it to the glue mixture, stirring continually until thickened - this may take up to 3 minutes. Store in a mason jar or plastic ziplock bag.  Don't let it sit out too long, otherwise it will dry out!

For extra creativity, use with play-dough tools!  You can also add glitter to the slime at the same time as your coloring for extra sparkle 😉  Looking for more crafty projects to do with your little ones?  Check out this post --> MORE Crafts!
